All doctors, myself included, sometimes forgot that patients don't know everything that we think they know. Sometimes we discuss common problems, but inadvertently cause the patients to worry because we didn't do our job of explaining it.
A classic example is astigmatism. Frequently, patients hear the term but have no idea what it means.
My friend and colleague, Dr. Justin Bazan, recently posted a great piece about astigmatism on his blog. You can read it here.
