MiSight 1 Day Contacts for Myopia Control

At Bright Eyes Family Vision Care and Bright Eyes Kids, our mission is to empower people by providing the best in friendly, professional, and innovative eye care. This includes children whose vision is getting worse each year from myopia. We are proud to be among the first offices to offer MiSight 1 Day, the first FDA approved contact lens for reducing progression of myopia.

What Is Myopia?

It’s not a word that most people use every day, but myopia is becoming an increasingly more common. Myopia is a condition where the eyeball grows too long. This causes the more commonly known condition of “nearsightedness”, the inability to see objects clearly at a distance, and can increase the risk of eye damage from long-term eye diseases.

CooperVision MiSight 1 Year Social Post

When it comes to the prevalence of myopia, the statistics are staggering. In the U.S. alone, more than 40 percent of Americans have myopia and that number is increasing at an alarming rate, especially among school-aged children.(1) To get an idea what vision is like with myopia, take a look at CooverVision’s Myopia Simulator.

At Bright Eyes we are proud to offer the CooperVision Brilliant Futures Myopia Management Program featuring MiSight 1 day contact lenses, the first and only FDA approved* contact lens to slow myopia progression of myopia in children.

Are MiSight 1 Day contact lenses like regular contact lenses?

In many ways, MiSight 1 Day contact lenses are the same as other contact lenses. They are made from similar materials, packaged in similar ways, and correct for daily visual needs in the same way. For the typical wearer, MiSight 1 Day contact lenses handle, feel, and provide the same vision as regular contact lenses. In fact, many wearers cannot tell the difference between these and other contact lenses that they have worn. Because they are designed to be worn for one day and then disposed of, they are healthy and require minimal care compared to resendable contact lenses.

How do MiSight 1 Day contact lenses work?

The special thing about MiSight 1 Day contact lenses its optics. The lenses have multiple lens power zones that are designed to provide both clear vision and peripheral defocus. It is this unique design provides stimulations the the areas of the back of the eye to slow eye elongation. There are 2 myopic control zones and 2 correction zones in the lens. (see picture below).

Do they work?

Our clinical experience shows that that MiSight 1 Day Lenses do reduce progression of myopia. While no program can guarantee to stop you child’s vision from getting worse. A recent clinical study showed that MiSight 1 day reduced the rate of myopia progression in that age group on average by 59% over a three-year period.(2)

More research has show that 23% of patients showed no additional myopia progression after 6 years. (3)
