Hello, Bright Eyes Patients! Welcome to our first email update of 2017. We have so much to tell you that we’ll get right to it:

Not One But Two Spring Events

Spring EventsSpring has sprung and we have 2 big events coming up! The first is our Spring Eyewear Show on Wednesday, April 26 from 4 to 8pm. This is a trunk show of all the Banana Republic and Smith Optics eyeglasses, including sunglasses. Win a FREE pair of prescription sunglasses from Smith! The second is the Spring Cleaning Sale Monday April 24 through Friday, April 28. The doctors are away at a conference most of the week, but both offices will be open – all eyeglasses and sunglasses on sale! Read more here.

Hours Reminder

Our Westchase office has new hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9am-5pm. Wednesday is still 12-8pm, Friday 8:30am-4:30pm and Saturday 9am-2pm. See all the details here.

Big News about Ortho-K!

We have been getting more requests than ever about Ortho-K, the overnight contact lenses that allows for clear, glasses-free vision. You might have seen Dr. Nate on the news! You can read about Dr. Nate’s daughter’s own experience with Orthok-K and also read more about the process here. Treehouse Eyes is an office in Washington DC that specializes in myopia control, and they did a story on Dr. Nate’s daughter.

VR Home Therapy is Live

We are one of the first eye doctors to offer Vivid Vision Virtual Reality Vision Therapytreatment for amblyopia and strabismus, but we are now able to offer this treatment as part of a home Vision Therapy program. Our Virtual Tour Scavenger Hunt

It is the brand new Google Virtual Tour!

As you may know, a year ago we moved a few hundred feet into our new space. We love the new office and get compliments on it all the time. Well, we are very excited to be able to show off the new space not just in person, but from the comfort of your computer, tablet or cell phone!

And because we are SO EXCITED about our new Virtual Tour, we are holding a virtual scavenger hunt! Use it to look around the office and see if you can find the answers to these questions:

The Second Frame FREE Sale!

I was all set to talk about the GIANT MYSTERY EYE that washed up near here, captivating nearly everyone. It was going to be all about eyes of different species and how unique they are for their environment and needs. But now that the mystery has been solved (SPOILER: It was a swordfish.), I have even better news.

Wow, with all the stress and confusion from moving our office to a BIGGER and BETTER location (here’s the skinny, more on that later!) the Bright Eyes staff and I sure would like to blow off some steam! And there is almost nothing better for a good night out than some laughter at live comedy. It has been one of my favorite night time outings for years – especially when we lived in Chicago.

But you don’t have to Chicago, NYC, or LA to see some wicked funny comedy. Thanks to our friends at Improv, you can get your laugh on right in Tampa, and in honor of National Eye Health Care Month (see related post), they’ve graciously given us FREE tickets to hand out! Think Your Old Glasses Were Ugly Enough to Win You Some Brand New Ones??

At Bright Eyes, we know that contests are fun. So is looking through old family photos poking fun at your hideous glasses. So we thought, why not combine them and host the UGLY GLASSES Contest! We are so sure that some of our patients have been photographed wearing seriously ugly glasses, that we will be giving away a complete designer pair of glasses, prescription lenses and all, to one lucky person! How fun is that?

Here is what you need to do:

  • Locate a photo of you in some truly atrocious/crazy/ugly-looking glasses.
  • Head over to our Facebook Page!
  • Fill out the form, upload the picture, and tell us why you should win!
  • Get everyone you know to vote for you!

Here are the complete rules:

The Ugly Glasses Contest begins 8:00 AM May 2, 2011 and ends May 30, 2011, at 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest.

The Bright Eyes Tampa Ugly Glasses Contest is judged by Dr. Nate and the staff of Bright Eyes Family Vision Care. Photos are judged with no discrimination towards sex, race, or age. Please submit photographs on-line through the contest application. Photos may not be mailed or brought to Bright Eyes Family Vision Care. All decisions are final. Please ensure your information is completed accurately.

One entry per contestant. The winner will be chosen based a number of factors including ugliness of the glasses in the picture, degree of humor or uniqueness of the description of the picture, and level of public support for the picture. Participants are highly encouraged to get friends and family to vote their pictures “thumbs up”.

Winners will be announced on May 31st, 2011. The Grand Prize winner of the free glasses must come in person to Bright Eyes Family Vision Care select the glasses and pick them up. The Second Prize is a $50 gift certificate to Bright Eyes Family Vision Care. The Third Prize is a $25 gift certificate to Bright Eyes Family Vision Care.

Contest may not be combined with vision insurance plans or any other discounts or offers. All participants must be at least 18 years of age. Boy, the Social Media Day Meetup last night at Tampa Bay Brewing Company was great. Tampa really rocked it last night like I knew we would. It was fun to see lots of friends and patients there. We were happy to give away two Bright Eyes gift certificates. I don’t know who the lucky winners were, but if it was you, let me know. We’d like to give you a shout out!

If you’ve been a patient of Bright Eyes for a while, you know that we love to give away stuff! We’ve given away books, a pair of Tiffany and Co. sunglasses, Prada frames, Nike frames, multiple Coach frames, and more gift certificates than we can count!

And we are at it again starting today! It is summertime and that means it is time to give away some new sunglasses!

Here is how to win: Just go to the starfish picture on our Facebook page by clicking here. We have picked a pre-determined “winning point” on the picture. Tag yourself anywhere in the photo. That’s it. It is so easy!
