The Bright Eyes Lego Glasses Challenge!

If you have ever been to Bright Eyes Family Vision Care or Bright Eyes Kids, you have probably noticed the various Lego sculptures around. My kids and I are big Lego fans! And although we have 65 billion Lego bricks at home (low estimate), after one week of Virtual School, my daughter was already asking for a new Lego set. Your kids probably have been asking for Lego sets as well. While not every set is as expensive as the Imperial Star Destroyer, we know parents are not excited about spending money on toys right now either.

Bright Eyes is here to help with the #LEGOGLASSESCHALLENGE! Think of it as your child being on an episode of Lego Masters where they make Lego Glasses, but not, you know, actually on TV.

Skinny: Make Lego glasses and win one of two (2) $50 Lego gift cards.

Here is how to enter:

Step one:

Have your child (under 18 years of age) build some glasses with Lego bricks. They do not need to be functional glasses like mine, but they do need to be wearable, at least for a minute or two.

Step two:

Take a picture of your child wearing their Lego glasses.

Step three:

Post the picture as a comment on THIS FACEBOOK POST. Have your child write a sentence or more about what the idea is behind their Lego glasses on or before April 30th, 2020.

On May 1st, 2020, the Bright Eyes Staff will vote on the entries. These are the criteria we will be judging:

  • The creativity of the Lego glasses build. Go crazy and have fun!
  • The story behind the inspiration of the design. The more imaginative, the better!
  • The number of Likes their entry gets on Facebook. Get friends and family to vote!

On May 2nd, we will announce the two winners!!! We would LOVE to personally deliver the Lego sets to you, but we think that it is safer to just mail you a $50 gift card.

We cannot wait to see what you come up with!!!! 🙂

-Dr. Nate

Fine print: No purchase necessary to enter. By commenting on the Facebook post, you are entering the contest. Bright Eyes will not save, screenshot, download, or use the entries, nor identify the entrants in any way. Entrants must be younger than 18 years old. Entrants do not need to be established patients of Bright Eyes Family Vision Care or Bright Eyes Kids. Winners do not receive Lego sets or money. Two winners will receive a Gift Card redeemable for $50 at or a Lego Store. Bright Eyes is not associated with Lego in any way. Lego is copyright Lego Group, Inc. If you have any questions or concerns about the Lego Glasses Challenge contest, please contact us directly.

Join COVD’s “Visions of Hope” Vision Therapy Video Contest.

At Bright Eyes Family Vision Care we love it when patients share their successes with us. Many times and they simply tell us when they come in. Sometimes they’ll write an amazing e-mail. One thing we really love is a good video!

Take for example this video of Kellan and his mom describing how vision therapy has helped him:

I’m excited to say that many other people are sharing their vision therapy success stories by video as well these days! Check out this very creative and timely one from Jillian, of Jillian’s Story. See also this very moving story of vision therapy and how much difference it made for Ann.

The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) is an organization dedicated to educating doctors and the general public about vision therapy. This summer, in conjunction with Children’s Vision and Learning Month, COVD is hosting an amazing vision therapy success story video competition called Visions of Hope video contest.

The goal of the competition is to see how many great vision therapy stories they can get on line to help share the positive impact vision therapy can have. It is exciting because the contest has already gotten lots of attention online. I can’t wait to see all the great videos that result from it!

Do you have a vision therapy success story that you want to share? Join the Vision of Hope contest! Read exactly how to submit your entry on the COVD Facebook Page. Submissions are due by August 10, so don’t dilly-dally! If you want to submit a video but have any questions or need help, do not hesitate to let me know!

FREE Sunglasses Contest & Summer Sale

Boy, the Social Media Day Meetup last night at Tampa Bay Brewing Company was great. Tampa really rocked it last night like I knew we would. It was fun to see lots of friends and patients there. We were happy to give away two Bright Eyes gift certificates. I don’t know who the lucky winners were, but if it was you, let me know. We’d like to give you a shout out!

If you’ve been a patient of Bright Eyes for a while, you know that we love to give away stuff! We’ve given away books, a pair of Tiffany and Co. sunglasses, Prada frames, Nike frames, multiple Coach frames, and more gift certificates than we can count!

And we are at it again starting today! It is summertime and that means it is time to give away some new sunglasses!

Here is how to win: Just go to the starfish picture on our Facebook page by clicking here. We have picked a pre-determined “winning point” on the picture. Tag yourself anywhere in the photo. That’s it. It is so easy!

On the morning of July 9th, whoever tagged closest to the winning point will be able to choose, in person, from our entire collection of Linea Roma sunglasses! (That’s the kind that I wear.) 🙂

But there is one catch: The picture must have 50 tags, or else there will not be a winner. Tag your friends and family or whoever else might want free sunglasses to make sure there are 50 people tagged before July 9th!

But wait, there’s more! Not only are we giving away sunglasses, but during the month of July every pair of shades is on sale. That’s right. Save between 10% and 40% on every line of sunglasses we carry: Linea Roma, Kate Spade, Costa Del Mar, Bulgari, Coach, Tiffany & Co, and more!

So tag the photo and stop by to check out the sale. If you have any questions, let us know. Good luck!

And the Coach winners are……….

Thank you so much to all those who entered our FREE Coach contest! It was very fun. We had so many great entries via text, tweet, blog, and Facebook.

I know there is much anticipation to find out the winners. And I will reveal them….. soon. But while I’ve got your attention: You can still text “Brighteyes” to 74700 to be put on our texting list for specials and events. And don’t forget to check in on Foursquare and add reviews about us on!

Now, on to the winners:

Our category one (blog comment) winner: Joysunshine.

She really out did herself with creative and honestly desperate pleading for Coach sunglasses. Here is one sample:

(In the tune of “If I Only Had a Brain”)

I will savor every hour
While lookin at the flowers
And not have any strain
And my face would be so dreamy
While the sun’s so hot and steamy
If I only had COACH Frames

I’d be cute, not just a little
As any individ’le
I hope I’m not too vain

(Dorothy–a.k.a. Dr. Bonilla-Warford)
In the sun you’d be winkin’
While your shades would hide your blinkin’
If you only had COACH frames.

(Scarecrow–aka ME)
Oh, I would watch the sky
As the sunset on the shore
I could look at things I never saw before
And then I’d sit and look some more

I would not be missin’ nuffin’
I’d sing till I was huffin’
I’d play out in the rain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had COACH frames!!!!

Winner from Category Two (Twitter/Facebook): @KrystalS

Krystal not only had numerous funny Facebook and Twitter pleas for the glasses, she was the only one who actual wrote a blog post about our contest. Kudos to her for going the extra mile.

Winner from Category Three (Text): Melanie Alvarez

Like most people who entered by text, Melanie also entered via the other ways. But she was the luckiest texter.

Congrats to all three winners! All you have to do is stop by Bright Eyes and pick out some shades or frames. We’ll take care of the rest. 🙂

Thanks to all who entered. I hope everyone had a good time. But, hang on, there is more. We had so many great entries that we decided to give out some honorable mention prizes!!!!

First, we have @IslandGirlCakes! She makes specialty cakes and said that she’d make a special Bright Eyes cake if she won. So we will take her up on her offer and will trade one pair of Coach sunglasses/frames for said cake. It better be amazing!

Second,we have @EllenatVistra who did submit some creative poems and haikus! She wins a $100 gift certificate!

And finally, Amanda, Amy, Michele, Danielle and Shelley all win $50 gift certificates for sheer determination!

This contest was very fun. Maybe we’ll do it again. We’ve already done Tiffany and Coach. Maybe Kate Spade next time?

Thanks everyone!
