Dr. Nate, Dr. Beth, and Cristina are proud to announce that Bright Eyes Family Vision Care has been honored with the 2021 CooperVision Best Practices donation! In the photo above, you can see the Bright Eye staff showing off the new plaque. This award is very meaningful because it shows how strong our passion is for our patients and their care. Every year CooperVision’s Best Practices program highlights optometric practices in the U.S. that advance the profession through innovation, industry leadership, and exceptional patient experience.
As CooperVision explains:
“Every year, we seek eye care practices who have tackled the profession’s challenges head on. But when we launched the Best Practices program, we never could have imagined a year like 2020 and the impact it would have on optometry. We weren’t sure what we would see in this year’s applications,” said Michele Andrews, OD, Vice President of Professional and Government Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “The stories we received were remarkable. It has been a true testament to the strength and resiliency of eye care professionals—that they have not only made it through the hardships associated with the pandemic, but that they have embraced them to make their practices stronger than ever. And they’re ready to share their secrets to success for the benefit of others. I’m so proud to partner with these new honorees.”
This is a great way for us to start 2021 off strong! We are ready for bigger and better things in the future!

Being recognized for hard work doesn’t happen often, so we are very proud of Dr. Nate for his most recent recognition!
On September 7, 2012, the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago presented Nathan Bonilla-Warford, OD with the Young Alumnus of the Year Award. He was recognized during a formal banquet at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago, along with the other award recipients which included his former professors.
Many of you know Dr. Nate from his various social media endeavors, such as Foursquare Day and local Tweetups. He actively participates in Google+ and Yelp events, both online and in-person. Did you know that Dr. Nate has expanded his use of social media to the optometric industry?
Dr. Nate has become a leading voice in optometry on the topic of using social media as a tool for patient communication and networking. He has written many articles for print and online optometric journals. He has lectured all over the country, encouraging doctors to establish a strong, positive online presence. In fact, the following day, he gave a lecture to students and alumni about using social media in different types of offices.
Chicago at the beginning of fall is beautiful! We had crisp air and bright blue skies, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of downtown. Dr. Nate and I lived in Chicago for 6 years before moving to Tampa, so it was a great time to visit our former home. We know the winter is soon to come to Chicago, and for that we are grateful for Florida winters!
Congrats Dr. Nate for your work to bring people together both online and in-person! That’s what social media is best used for!

I am proud to announce that one of our Frame and Lens Specialists, Laura Huffman, has been honored this summer by receiving two national awards.
First, Laura can be seen in the Vision Monday magazine issue about Influential Women in the Optical Business under the article, Opticianry Students: The Next Generation of Female Leaders. She was the only one chosen from her entire class to be featured in this article.
Second, Laura won the Digital Corneal Reflection Pupilometer Award from Essilor of America for being the most outstanding student in her class. The award is given yearly out to one graduating student at each opticianry and optometry school. I am especially proud of Laura because I myself won this award while attending the Illinois College of Optometry.
So next time you are in the office, be sure to congratulate Laura!
