If you love running and/or just love helping out an incredible cause, the Lions Eye Institute is having their annual Roar Through Ybor race for sight! It is a not-too-arduous 5K race through Ybor City's Centennial Park located at 1800 East 8th Avenue Tampa. And if you still want to help out but can't complete the entire 5K, there is a short 1 mile walk available as well. You have until 5 pm on Friday, April 13th to register to participate.
"The Race for Sight directly supports the activities of the Lions Eye Institute Foundation. The Lions Eye Institute Foundation was founded in 2005 with the sole purpose of supporting the three major areas of concentration at the Lions Eye Institute: - The Ocular Research Center – first research center ever to be combined with an eye bank, providing for on-site ocular research to prevent, arrest or delay the progression of blinding eye diseases - The Eye Bank – the largest in the world, providing eye tissue for research and transplantation nationwide. - Support and Education – funding for programs enriching the quality of life for the blind and visually impaired and educating the seeing population about the issue."
