There are many organizations that volunteer time and money to assist people who have vision problems. One very large and active group is the Lions Club. Over the years, I have volunteered my time with many activities such as vision screening at the Special Olympics.
The Lions Club is greatly expanding their facility in Ybor City. According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, "The Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research is building a 12,000-square-foot ocular research center adjacent to its building at 1410 N. 21st St., the former F. Lozano & Sons cigar factory. The center will provide space for scientists from both academic institutions and businesses to study eye tissue soon after it is harvested from donors."
